Rocket Wide by Channel Islands

Rocket Wide

Rocket Wide is a user-friendly model that evolves the Rocket 9 for small waves up to knee-high. The Gudauskas brothers, team riders of Channel Islands, updated the shape to bring out the same performance as the Rocket 9 even when the waves are small and the power is weak. The tail width is wider so that it can run through flat wave sections like a skateboard, and the nose width is also wider to increase paddling speed. The Rocket Wide is a short and wide skateboard machine that makes surfing fun even when the waves are small and not so good. With this board, you will never be disappointed even if there are no waves! Advanced surfers are recommended to ride about 2 to 4 inches shorter than their height.

Rocket Wide is recommended for these people!

Rocket Wide is a groveler type (for small waves) board for beginners to intermediate surfers. It is recommended as a main board for those who want not only quick take-off and ease of speed when surfing in small or weak waves, but also rail-to-rail maneuvers and tight turns in pockets like performance surfers. It is a well-balanced model, so it is very easy to handle for beginners and will satisfy advanced surfers as a ripping machine.

Rocket Wide is suitable for all wave sizes and conditions

The Rocket Wide was designed for knee-high to head-high waves with weak power and thick waves. However, it has also been proven to handle deep waves, so it can be used by average surfers for all-around surfing without any problems. In the Japanese environment, this would be the No. 1 candidate for the main board.

What is the difference between Rocket Wide and Neckbeard 2?

Both are groveler types and have similar specs, but the features of the two models are quite different. In terms of concept, the Rocket Wide is a more user-friendly board that is easier to ride. On the other hand, the Neckbeard 2 emphasizes performance that allows for aggressive top action. When choosing a board, if you are simply looking for a board that is easy to ride in small waves and has good feel, we recommend the Rocket Wide. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy lip action from top speed, we recommend the Neckbeard 2.

Spine-Tek Rocket Wide is popular!

The Rocket Wide, which is at its best in weak and small waves, is also quite popular for its Spine-Tek material. Spine-Tek is the latest material developed by Shapers in Australia, combining EPS foam, composite fiber, and carbon fiber. Not only is it lightweight, but the board's flex is lively, and you can feel the acceleration and drive just by turning lightly, allowing you to quickly transition to the next turn or maneuver. It returns to its original shape faster than conventional wood stringers, and is reset every time you turn, so the best flex state is maintained throughout your ride. Even when the waves are small, it's easy to gain speed, it's easy to move, and your surfing looks big and flashy!
