Happy by Channel Islands

Happy
Happy, released by Channel Islands, is a new performance model that allows surfers to freely realize any maneuver they can imagine. The weak nose rocker and the volume around the chest make paddling easy and accelerate to top speed immediately after riding. It also performs best in the wave pocket. To control the tremendous speed that the board generates, Happy's rails and tail are designed to be thin. This makes it a highly responsive board that is less likely to make mistakes even in critical maneuvers, and it holds firmly without slipping out even when turning hard. Happy's bottom has a single concave near the front foot, a double around the fin, and a flat tail end. This concave gives a perfect balance between acceleration and control. Over the past few years, shaper Britt has been improving the design with feedback from talented CI team riders such as Zeke, Lakey, Mikey, and Connor when they used it on the World Tour. The Happy is recommended as an all-around board that can be used in small waves, but by making it a little longer and giving it a round tail, it can also be recommended as a step-up board (for larger waves). The Happy can be ordered in a variety of materials, including PU, EPS, Spine-Tek, and XTR.

Happy is recommended for these people!
Al Merrick's Happy is a high-performance board for intermediate to advanced surfers. It is most recommended for those who want to improve their surfing skills and those who are aiming for competitions. However, it is not a difficult board, so intermediate surfers can also enjoy ripping and carving when the waves are good. If you are tired of short, voluminous small waves or want to ride a board that is more like a long shortboard, please give it a try. It may open a new door to surfing!
Happy's wave sizes and conditions
Happy is an all-round type suitable for waves from thick to double. The more power the wave has, the better the board performs, so it is better suited to hollow waves rather than thick waves. It is also a popular model for stepping up (for larger waves), so it is also recommended for typhoons and trips.
What is that blue patch on Happy's tail?
The Happy Patch is made of fiberglass and was invented to replace the standard tail patch. A standard tail patch covers a wide area with carbon material, which makes the tail flex too stiff and makes it difficult to feel the flex and twist when turning. After discussing with shaper Britt Merrick, CI riders decided to add a small patch only to the toe area, where strength is needed, instead of using a carbon patch, in order to further enhance the performance of the board. The Happy sold as a stock board has a blue patch on the right side, but in fact the same clear patch is also included on the left side. Therefore, the toe and heel areas are reinforced in the same way whether in regular stance or goofy stance.

Comparison between Happy and Fever
Currently, Al Merrick's high performance models are mainly Happy and Fever. Comparing the two models, Happy is more suitable for carving surfing in more powerful and hollow waves. Fever is characterized by its adaptability to a wide range of waves and its ease of down-the-line speed.
