High Line
You want to perform well even when the waves aren't perfect, right? The Highline is a high performance shortboard designed with feedback from Jack Freestone, John, Nathan, Ivan Florence, Tyler Wright, Nic Von Rupp and many of our junior team riders.
The Highline is a design that shows its true value in average to good waves, and is based on the 74 model that Dane Reynolds chose as No. 1 in Stab in the Dark in the past. The rocker has remained unchanged from the 74, but the foil and outline have been updated to make it a modern high-performance board. The entire bottom has a single concave, and the rocker is set to medium to slightly strong. This combination of rocker and concave creates a sense of hold for speed and drive when accelerating and turning. The wide point of the outline is slightly closer to the tail than the center, and there is also a hip near the tail, which creates drive while also acting as a pivot point to make vertical maneuvers such as snaps easier. The deck shape is slightly flat, leaving volume up to the rails. However, the rails are not thick and boxy, but rather have a refined shape that makes them sensitive and easy to turn.
The Highline is a board with a fair amount of rocker, but compared to the similar Radius model, the Highline's rocker is slightly flatter in the nose and tail, allowing it to sustain more speed in lighter waves and keep its speed in flatter waves, but with enough balanced rocker to make vertical surfing easy.
The sizing of the Highline is slightly wider and maintains volume, giving it more buoyancy and allowing it to maintain momentum even in small waves. Simply put, the Highline is a great high-performance board for below average waves. When choosing your board size, we recommend choosing a board that is about an inch longer than your height, and a similar size and volume to your favorite performance board.
